secure rowboat cargo

It'd be nice if you could take a rope and tie down cargo in your rowboat to prevent people from swooping by and stealing your cargo, maybe make it take 10 seconds to tie & untie an individual piece of cargo

IMHO: Taking cargo from a manned (someone sitting in the middle) boat should be theft, destroying a manned boat should be vandalism at minimum.

We should just be able to claim one boat per person like you do a lean-to, and only the person that owns the rowboat can interact (to prevent making a shitton of boat alts) without leaving scents.

Boat alt? Why would someone do that? For when you leave the boat it won't be stolen till your return?

That could be reasonable. Will consider.

stealing from carts

Postby Yemagh » Tue Feb 12, 2019 2:54 pm

i'm so tired of getting my crap stolen directly from my cart, so here is my sugestion, make theft skill a requirement to take things from other people's carts while they are dragging it, and if they do it leave a theft scent on the spot, if the cart is not being pulled by anyone though it is fair game, it only makes sense to me. maybe also extend it to rowboats, knarrs and wagons if someone is driving them.

Nope. just because your pulling something or carrying something off your claim dosent make what your pulling carrying or rowing yours. if you cant defend it you don't need it

Can't say I disagree with this philosophy, even having been on the 'can't defend it' side of things.

Merged to a related topic.

On topic of 'stuff in cart is mine':

Following that kind of logic a bit further the theft protection of claims could be removed.

I think the general idea is reasonable, manned vehicles shouldn't be free-for-all - one should need to be criminal in case the want to grab stuff of others gets overwhelming.

I see the similarities and understand your reasoning. But I also want to point out that it's not trivial to "de-boat" somebody (i.e. make him to leave the boat, is there a proper english word for that?) while it is very easy to "de-cart" by just blocking it. Therefore solutions proposed for the boat situation might not be as viable for the cart.
