Reduce the minimum distance between pclaims on villages

Postby Attas » Wed Apr 12, 2017 10:34 pm

It's impossible to build dense villages today, which is more or less the opposite of the idea of a village: a lot of people in a small place. 5 tiles distances in villages with private plots is quite a big distance, and town planners know the struggle it is to pave useless roads between plots.

I understand that there must be a distance between normal pclaims, otherwise people would build impenetrable walls of claims around another claim for exemple. However, if a claim is inside a village, I see no way the mechanics of minimum distance could be really abused. Reduce it either to either 0, 1 or 3 tiles and our life will be much easier.

People use to use claims to lock people in with walls.

The distance would have to be minimum of 4(?).
Since doors can be stuck on claims and ropewalks.

Then we just ended up at 5...honestly even 5 can still be abused.

sooooo no and yes.
A system in towns that would allow you to change the setting on how close claims can be built together would be nice.
I would +1 to that idea.

+1 pls, hard to organize a dense town properly with this 5 tile limit.

5 wide roads shouldn't be a problem, this is also just enough space to build sane path with milestones...

Sincerely it wouldn't be a huge change mechanic-wise. Cairns related to people other than group colors would be a similar solution, but a more complicated one actually.

Sometimes the ideia isn't exactly build a giant village. Just enough to people live without the trouble of wasting half your day crossing it.
