Food spoiling.

Postby Fostik » Sun Jul 30, 2017 3:27 pm

1. Let raw food spoil fast (~1-3 rl days)
2. Food preparing is a way to increase time that food will stored.
3. Some recipes must be a way for conservation, allow store food for very long time periods.

What that will give?
- Will be not so bore to play: you will require to think how to store your food longer, or use it faster (actually i always have a house full of meat in cupboards)
- Advantage for trade. You don't need to prepare and trade pies only, because pies is OP and you don't need any other foods. Therefore you will use less popular recipes, that stores more time for trading.
- It can be a way to add some recipes i.e. smoked food, conservated food, spiced food.

Already suggested multiple times and I'm totally agree with that. Watch at URW once again ... maybe not that hardcore, cause this is not a rogue like.

Added tedium for no reason other than realism

You cannot store anymore huge quantity of food forever and raise alts and alts at your will without a real effort ... there are some reasons :D

why is this a bad thing

you pretend alting is a thing these days

the only alts that happen are trash stamina feed/starving alts that need no stats, combat alts which will always be a thing until combat needs dexterity and carpentry, and mining alts for giant ass jobs.

this problem can not and will not ever be solved, nor is it a problem

you can't make a "crafting alt" unless it's a jack of all trades with the addition of 50 trillion inflation skills (will, lore, masonry)

why do you guys pretend alting is the scourge of this earth literally who gives a shit

adding arbitrary tedium and shitting all over things/extra complications (like food spoiling, or our current hunger/FEP system, which this idea would make even more retarded) is rather short sighted and a slap-stick solution to a problem that hardly exists at this time. simple is good, this game should not need a 10 page manual for every step of progression.

The system won't affect the alts at all. You will just eat more often.

Cons of your proposal:
- additional tedium;
- destruction of a major trading sector and increasing the pay gap between the nabs and factions. A lot of people used to make a profit by selling their food - universal and demanded currency.

Why?
Big fractions dont want to make tedious work with food that spoil fast.
So there will be noobs that will force tedious recipes to get slow-spoiling food, that will be sold to big fractions.
What pay gap between noobs and fractions are you talking about?

Only if I can store my raw foods on a snowy mountain top or deep within a cave.
