No stuff on you while Logged out

Postby sMartins » Fri Aug 18, 2017 2:54 pm

The recently mad man on the moot made me think about hiding stuff on chars and alts on log out.
I know many of you would not agree but honestly i don't care :D.
This thing of hiding stuff on logged out chars is pretty dumb, I agree with the effort to raid, etc... but once you break in you should be able to take whaterver you want ... not limited by some magic log out that protect your stuff, that also promotes alts, more alts you have, more your shit will be safe.

So, i have not an elegant solution, but i think we can easily find one.

-You can log out only sleeping, otherwise your char will remain in the game .... and you cannot sleep with stuff on you.
-When you log out your char will lie down and some kind of chest appears with the stuff you have on you ... etc...

These are possible ideas ... the only problem could be for new chars and new players, so the best thing that came in my mind about new players is to give a buff for new players/new chars that allow to keep stuff on you for some hours/days and teach you about the leanto, maybe with the tutorial .... like wurm does.

So yeah, a "noob buff" for starting chars ... then no more stuff on log out for anyone.

But this could lead to create new chars when a raid it's happening ... so probably better no stuff on log out for anyone, and simply make it a crime to take stuff from "sleeping" (logged out) chars.

Tell me if you have any better idea about how to solve this.

I agree, and ladygoo and others used to push this suggestion every now and then, but what you're proposing is too complicated.

Instead, just this: if you have stuff on your inventory, you're not able to log out.

No magical chests, no baby blue eyes buff. More types of reinforced chests could be added to the game, and players who are taking a break could drop their stuff in a large village for safekeeping (the northern kingdom already has a bank, for instance).

How about no, and not suggest anything that makes it a hassle to just log off the fucking game thanks.

Yeah I agree, but the only thing is the game needs to teach at noobs with tutorial or something ....

+1

Game is enough of a chore sometimes without having to go through a bunch of nonsense just to log out.

Yeah, I agree with this too .... complicated ways to log out it's not a solution.
Simply, stuff on char should remain in the game ... with few exceptions, like bond, study curiosities ...

I forgot we were playing Ark Survival Evolved and that when someone raids me I need to lose my character cause I'm offline. Because this is a perms death game where leaving a character laying around is not a good way to lose months of progress at all.

If you wanted to do his nonsense, then it should at least be done in an intelligent way. Back in the day, someone suggested at one point that your inventory be accessible from your hearthfire while you are offline. Which I always thought was smart if we were to head into that direction because your character wouldn't be at risk.

Yeah something like that but not with hearthfires ....
Hearthfire doesn't work cause then you can move it, or destroy it .... and we are at the same point. Stuff should remain always in the game, not chars of course.
Well, maybe even chars ... but while "sleeping" (logged out) you cannot do anything to him, except take his shit.
But also this could potentially lead to camping position of sleeping chars ... so we need a better idea to keep all the stuff in the game without giving away the logged out char position.

I understand why works like that, now .... cause it's not easy to solve.
Keep suggesting ideas if you have.

This would be the best way to do it. As usual sMartins has a terrible idea.

I don't remember who originally proposed it so I can't link the thread, but pretty sure it was Goo.
