easy disposal of tree logs

could we put tree log to bonfire directly?

I'd probably have a bonfire lit 24/7

Yeah .... nice this could solve also the problem with logs stockpile:
What about something in between, now we have tree trunks and firewoods, what about actual logs, maybe also stockpilable, but not in inventory, they would be liftable 3 at once that is the equivalent of one tree trunk:

just realized you can load logs on a cart and destroy the cart to get rid of the logs

Seems a bit excessive... what did they do to you?!

I'd just stock pile 'em and use them for mining. Or you could carry one above water and log out, I think they just disappear (unless it changed).

Or....perhaps a larger tar kiln that uses logs instead of blocks of wood and planks. takes about the same 3 days but produces 200-300 coal.

just a suggestion.

All good suggestions, but really dodges the point of getting rid of unwanted wood. If you heavily tree farm, you're going to find logs piling up like a miner piles up gneiss.

Or just let us drop logs in directly would be nice. Takes 2-3x longer to burn, but 50% increased yield (due to no wasted material when making blocks/boards), maybe decreased quality (not an issue if you're just making junk coal for low/mid Q burn jobs). Added bonus: get very rare 1x4 curio "charred log" when pulling out of the kiln. Something like being put through test of fire and coming out unscathed flavor text.

I thought the cart method worked but I was probably high on something...now I'm just making boards with bonesaw... it works fine once you get rid of those old q10 logs... now it's just management...
