They take 4 damage from a bear and run off, raise the threshold before a horse runs away or alternatively add some horse armor

Yes I can't count the amount of times iv chased my horse cause I messed up (distracted, lazy, or careless) and bear atk horse first

Horse armour would be cool, you could have starter armour made from leather and cloth and progress up to metal ... I'd really like a bridle as well, I know it's not relevant but it just looks odd riding a horse with no steering mechanism, esp in a battle or flight scenario.

I lost a horse like this. Never finish off a bear before the horse returns. Luckily it was a horse without saddlebags.

Anyway, how about breedable combat stats for horses?

it still ran from 5 damage though, sometimes they come back sometimes they don't

Don't hunt on horses. This is how it should be, but armor for horses would be nice, only should make the horse slower or drain stamina way faster.

I don't know what you guys are doing but my horse assists me against bears on a regular basis, without any problems.
