Discussion of New Dungeon Ideas

Postby Adder1234 » Fri Dec 08, 2017 3:30 am

Alright, with all of the talk of new animal dungeons, I decided to start a thread to collect them all in.

My favourite one I've already mentioned a few times: giant ant nest dungeon. Pretty much just a huge ant mound and the boss would be an hearthling sized ant matriarch. Some stuff you could could find in the dungeon would be ant pupae (food), ant mandibles (curio) and regular ants you would get from smaller nests.

Love the ant dungeon. Maybe the burrows could sometimes lead to another type of dungeon? Or quest givers could give a quest to clear a small dungeon and open a portal next to them to lead to it. Only the person with the quest or people in their party can see and enter. Portal disappears when the quest is complete or abandoned, obviously.

Dungeon that can be done with low combat skills.

Dungeon drops that are useful to veterans but can be acquired by newbies as well. Let's say an underground dungeon where you can sometimes dig out a cornerstone, that would be required for advanced buildings or walls.

Trolls encased in rock that can be hacked at for special rocks or ores, something that would be useful early game and requires a fair amount of strength. You can only mine so much until it is released.

Very interested in how a Jorbatar looks like :D ... and if there is any difference with a Loftorb .... which one is more evil? :D

Now I'm imagining devs in that Pulp Fiction scene with the gimp. Thanks for that mental image :(

Back on topic, how about butterfly dungeon? Naturally it should cause freak weather (when we get weather) in the overworld around it. Kinda like how wolf dens would ruin hunting in an area until cleared, butterfly den would ruin farming.

I like the idea of a butterfly dungeon! It could look beautiful if there were different colour butterflies ... not so keen on it ruining farming though tbh, I know certain species can cause harm to certain crops, but maybe not to all of them. I guess with enough saved seeds and produce it's at least repairable ... but what if you were unlucky, have a small farm and one kept spawning in your area! ... :|

Nah, I mean them flapping their wings would create storms that ruin crops :P

Ahh, well that makes sense ... ... but still, I've been unable to find a dungeon but I bet if we had that one it would spawn continuously on my little hermitage and all my animals would end up dying of starvation! :P

I still like a butterfly dungeon tho, it would be more exciting than sheep. :D
