One Year Worlds

Postby Infinity-Production » Sun Dec 31, 2017 3:54 am

After a year after the world have started, not many players are still playing, thinking the world will reset soon,
that they have no chance in late game or they wont accomplish much before it ends. The world is broken and ugly,
fragments of lost civilization is everywhere. All valuable resources are claimed by larger factions.

So what I want to suggest is that each year, same time, same day, the world resets.
With one more difference from a old world reset.

People can get titles and cosmetic gear as rewards for outstanding performance.

For example
Most Trolls Slain = Title: Troll Slayer
increased Quality of crop the most = Title: Green Thumbs
Killed most people that were much weaker = Title: Merciless Murder
Killed most warriors of equal or higher strength = Title: Honored Warrior
Killed most people in 1 v 1 death matches = Title: The Duelist
Forged the highest quality weapon = Title: Master Black Smith
Made most silk = Title: King of Moths
Made most furniture = Title: Master carpenter.
Made most food = Title: Master Chef
Highest Quality tree planted = Title: Tree Hugger
Owner of the largest kingdom = Title: The true king of World X
The True king of the world can chose 3 knights = Title: Knight of World X
Owner of the most advanced kingdom = Title: King of prosperity

This will create a lot of competition between people,
also it will also make people go and risk it all in the end of the world,
making it a lot more fun because they want some nice titles.
The winners of these titles will be displayed here on the forum as a kind of "Hall of Glory".
In the Hall of Glory the top 3 for each title will be shown but only the best will get the title,
just so people can compare the effort that was put in too it.
These will also motivate people too stick to their professions and get really good at something.

Trust me, you don't want to know when you will die and devs know about that.
Make friends with the other crabs or try to escape the bucket.

Will never happen but I support this 100%

It would be nice just to know and be done with the always wondering BS

Contrary to popular belief it would increase the population and less people would quit

Even if it is an idea will never happen, it cost nothing to post it ^^
Maybe it will inspire the developers in some kind of way, that will help them improve the game.

I post a lot of stupid posts, but i am always happy i do, because i prefer to say something stupid than regretting saying nothing.

I think it is better for it to remain a mystery, but I have contemplated various changes to the life cycles of worlds, like running two servers parallell and reset them on a rolling schedule, or somesuch.

I'd still love to see the altar of ruin integrated into the game as an actual thing to fight for king of the hill style or something.

Paraller servers would be a good idea. At least to test if the idea of pre-announced world resets works. Some people who prefer more persistent worlds could still be satisfied.
The one that would reset more frequently could be used for testing some drastic mechanic changes.

Regarding world resets I think that they kill off motivation for building projects and deter players from starting (or continuing, for different reasons) to play - and the need for them solely roots from the current inablility of the world to rid itself of defunct structures and runaway numbers (stats and item quality).

IMHO world resets (as we know them) should be dealt with by removing the reasons for them.
