lures need fixing

Postby synaris » Wed Jan 31, 2018 2:11 am

so i decided to test out some q265 copper comets and i lose one without getting a single catch. so i pop another one on there and the same thing happens right away. i lost 2 copper comets in a row and gained nothing. but i can catch 20 fish on one rock lobster.

so whats the POINT of the fancier lures? they need to offer us some sort of benefit if we're going to use them. in addition to having less of a chance to be lost the more costly it is, i think they should allow us to catch higher quality fish. lets say 10% of the lures quality is added to fish quality, unless using a gold hook in which case its 30% of the lures quality that gets added to the fishes quality. and this would only apply to lures that take metal or 3 things to make. if a lure takes only 2 things to make like pinecone plugs, then its 5 and 15 percent. if its just a rock lobster or wooden fish, you get nothing extra.

what do you all think?

The "fancier" lures aren't necessarily better in any complete sense; they're just different. Basically, different lures have different affinities to different fishes, and different chances of different fishes escaping with them.

Are these lure affinities per fish, or are they per node? For example, would a rock lobster lure work on all ide (I'm making this up) or would ide in different nodes react differently to different lures?

Per fish.

i still consistently lose the more expensive lures while gaining less fish than the cheaper ones. you didnt address that.

and there are not enough unique recipes to go far out of your way to use a specific metal lure to catch them.

What kind of string and hook are you using? That might make a difference. I've heard reports that they modify the chances, even if it's not as important as the lure or bait used.

At least the hook I have tested extensively, it makes the difference between a fish biting or escaping with the bait.

From all my fishing i came to the conclusion to use rockfish and woodfish, sometimes feather fly everything else is shit and no purpose. when i was doing fisherman credo i went through about 40 tin flys to catch 2 salmon i never did at 60% chance i just did normal bait fishing to complete the quest. when you get to the point that lures that should work on a certain fish get wasted so quick you quickly stop wasting time on those lures and stick to what works.

If the higher q of lures and different type lasted longer and opened up unique fish like squid, lobster sea monsters etc then it can be justified but for now i suggest sticking to the trinity lures or bait fishing.

I agree that lure fishing should be better, at least.

What I implied is that the effect you're seeing is not intrinsic to those lures, but also depends on what fish you're catching.
