iHorse 7s (Smart Horses)

Postby calebsnow » Thu Mar 08, 2018 11:04 pm

I had an idea today while looking for my beautiful horse Seabiscuit after he was attacked by a vicious wild bear.

1) Implementing a simple system where you can attach a non claimed horse to your character, with a simple right click. A horse claimed by someone could not be claimed by someone else sort of deal.

2) Claiming a horse will prevent anyone else from riding that particular horse, when you claim a new horse the old horse will be left without an owner.

3) Hearth Magic that if the horse is lost, it will use the follow function to come back to you, which ever way is easiest, teleport to you, etc. Personally the follow function would be more realistic considering if he is across a lake he wont be able to get back to you, so he will only be able to get back to you if you haven't completely abandoned him and are not at least on the same land mass. :D :D :D

4) Perhaps create a map icon for claimed horses

No. Tame and conquer. If You lose your horse because of a bear and can't locate it, it means that horse deemed You unworthy.

Branding Iron is there for a reason.

Claiming a horse should also allow no one else to ride your horse, should of put that in original post.
Now in some particular cases, a bear will chase your horse and will get away and be chased by another bear before you find it, not sure it has anything to do with being "unworthy"

Will edit.

Yeah, a way to somehow have whatever horse you're using get to you fast, ie teleportation, would be very useful.
Total misplay.

Idk if im very fond of the teleportation idea, but if it costs like 4000+ exp, i mean it is hearth "magic"
Beats the crap out of having to worry about running across the village to grab a horse when you need it in a pinch

Added creating a map icon for ones claimed horse.

Tamed animals need minimap icons, imo.

But yeah, should cost a decent amount of EXP, so it's for getting it in an emergency, or getting it back after you lost it. Should possibly have a maximum range too, effected by charisma or lore or something.
Total misplay.

I can get down with those ideas.

Let me imagine what my w6 hermitage farm would have looked like with all those icons... No, I'd rather not see that, even though I get the reason why.

Would be nice to have a way to try to track down a stray animal, even if not easy.

Why not a toggle? Besides, at worst it'd just be a large clump of icons. I don't see the problem with that, though the most animals i've ever owned is a small herd of a dozen sheep.

How about branded animals then?
