Two things should be changed imo. The growth time and the cave in mechanic. If the towercaps natural ground is cave tiles it should take the same amount of time as other trees on Forrest terrain. I understand it's a cool mechanic that they prevent cave ins but if they aren't the only thing in the vicenity preventing cave ins they shouldn't cause cave ins if chopped down. I guess it can be argued that the tower cap grows into the ceiling? But then make it where at a certain stage it can cause cave ins?
Reasonable requests, both for a fair growth speed and replacement of the braindead cave in mechanic. Removing supports should not cause a cave in when all tiles in their range are covered by other supports.

I growed towercaps only once, and they caused a cave-ins when chopped even though all the area was covered with much older supports, so I thought ''fuck them''

Client feature... wrong forum... probably not practical to do since they're a tree, not a mine support type. (Java can get weird with some programming paradigms like multiple inheritance that would make it easy and practical.) you might try putting a bug in Romov's or shubla's ear (or someone else that knows the client code fairly well) in their client thread(s).
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.
There are just way too many negatives about them to even have them In any plans of a settlement. They don't produce anything other than wood so it makes no sense they are such a terrible alternative to other trees. I guess the option to plant them underground is nice but the cave in feature and time it takes to grow makes this pointless.
