Idea-> Wildlife in Swamps.

Postby gonzamvt » Fri Oct 19, 2018 6:25 pm

Swamps present no kind of threat.
It would be cool and interesting adding some animals in there.

Wildlife in swamps can introduce new features such as artifacts, such as clothing and equipment or new delights..

Some ideas:

Macrochelys temminckii (Alligator snapping turtle)
Characteristics:
-Its standard measure would be in a male turtle 80 kilos and a length of 75 centimeters the female is a little smaller.
-They are a solid gray, brown, black, or olive-green in color, and often covered with algae. They have radiating yellow patterns around their eyes, serving to break up the outline of the eyes to keep the turtle camouflaged.
-Still, these turtles must be handled with extreme care and considered potentially dangerous. This species can bite through the handle of a broom and rare cases have been reported where human fingers have been cleanly bitten off by the species. No human deaths have been reported to have been caused by alligator snapping turtles.

Melanosuchus niger (black caiman)
Characteristics:
- The black caiman is one of the largest extant reptiles. Growing to at least 5 m (16 ft) and possibly up to 6 m (20 ft) in length, which makes it the second largest reptile
-They has dark-coloured, scaly skin.
-The black caiman is structurally dissimilar to other caiman species, particularly in the shape of the skull. Compared to other caimans, it has distinctly larger eyes.
-It is a dangerous species to humans, and attacks have occurred in the past.

Agkistrodon piscivorus (Venomous Snake)
Characteristics:
-Adults commonly exceed 80 cm (31 in) in length; females are typically smaller than males.
-Though the majority of specimens are almost or even totally black, (with the exception of head and facial markings), the color pattern may consist of a brown, gray, tan, yellowish-olive, or blackish ground color, which is overlaid with a series of 10–17 dark brown to almost black crossbands.
-Adults are large and capable of producing a painful and potentially fatal bite. If they confront each other, they defend themselves by rolling their bodies and displaying their fangs.

Hippopotamus amphibius (hippo)
Characteristics:
-Hippopotami are among the largest living land mammals, being only smaller than elephants and some rhinoceroses. Mean adult weight is around 1,500 kg
-Hippopotami have barrel-shaped bodies with short legs and long muzzles.Their skeletal structures are graviportal, adapted to carrying their enormous weight, and their specific gravity allows them to sink and move along the bottom of a river.
-The hippopotamus is considered to be very aggressive and has frequently been reported as charging and attacking boats. Small boats can be capsized by hippos and passengers can be injured or killed by the animals or drown. In one case in Niger, a boat was capsized by a hippo and 13 people were killed. As hippopotamuses will often engage in raiding nearby crops if the opportunity arises, humans may also come in conflict with them on these occasions, with potential for fatalities on both sides.

Out of certain reasons i would like a green swamp monster that is benign in general but can be provoked by uttering profanities, following in a team effort being needed to bring it down (after it flatten'd quite some of them).

Unless those are rare spawns I don't want it. From since I remember, swamps were starting locations, that were literally crowded for sometime.

Or unleash new stuff after newish world gets older.

I never recall starting in a swamp... well, there was this one time in w6, I think, and it was a thicket... miserable that. Had to wait a whole 30 minutes for a dream catcher so I could move my hearth fire. And even that wasn't as bad as this one island I spawned on... a 6x8 solitary prison cell would have felt less confining. Having a bear spawn practically on top of my hearth fire when I logged in and my client took 10 minutes to load the scene was another fun story.

No, swamps aren't a "starting area." They're a newb magnet for things like dragonflies and other curios. You could easily pay attention to what spawned there and avoid it. I can think of a thousand worse things for the game than this.

That said, meh... another mob that's not that hard to defeat won't be bad. The turtle... yes. Caimans and hippos? Nope. It's Europe, not Africa (not to mention both are tropical animals, not temperate to arctic).

i wouldnt mind a monster with the strength of a troll to spawn in when you vandalize the swamp to much. bringing it down should give nice loot for a beginning world.
see homo sexuality trending,. do not do that.
