Stat caps, a good solution

Postby overtyped » Wed Jan 30, 2019 7:40 pm

I'm not in favor of stat caps, but if they were to exist, stats should increase past the cap by doing dungeons and getting drops like the heart container. Botting will be much less of an issue. No more 24/7 botters raising a 20k stat titan.

Edit: I would also say, dungeons within 10 character line of sights of you should show up as an arrow that points to it, to make this less tedious for the common man, and promote ""friendly"" competition

Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

Not a bad idea. It gives a greater meaning to dungeons, and would create competition for them.

It's not like the quality grind is ever gonna need to stop, because you will need high end gear to do a dungeon.

and they were able to do that because of their absurd agility/strength/unarmed. They wouldnt be able to do that if they had a 300 stat cap at the beginning. They would need help.

Pretty bad idea if you consider that there are a lot of solo players and dungeons are pretty difficult to complete even with groups. How is an antisocial hearthling supposed to progress if they're locked behind group content?

How is a solo hearthling gonna compete with the super villages with 24/7 botters raising 20k stat titans?

They aren't, but you want to punish them anyway? The problem is with the people who use bots, not with solo hearthlings.

Good idea, then only unemployed people who play game 24/7 can have strong characters.

Maybe that solo hearthling can ask a big village to come take care of the dungeon, and that solo hearthling gets some of the loot. Maybe that solo hearthling doesn't have any interest in dungeons, and sells his wares to buy heart container type things?
