New Claim Changes SUCK

Ok. the old system was considered overly "safe"

The new one is so far the other way they become near pointless.

So a friends group put down a claim, they now take 8 hours to "dry" and if the idol is killed you lose 100% of the lp invested.

So defend it you might say?

you need rage and a fighter, why?

gotta kill all the alts trying to kill the claim, leave your own scents and risk an additional hunk of lp.

ANY alts can destroy the idol without leaving a scent.

You might say, lock the gates?

They were picked so easy they might as well have not had locks on them.

That's not a "new claim change". it's been that way since W8.

Gates can't be picked. Only houses and containers can.

Newly established Personal Claims begin without shield and have to charge it up. Also note that expanding a claim will reduce it's shield proportionally to the increase in size of the claim. Village Claims start with full shield after activation.
The shield regenerates 1000 HP per hour.

According to the wiki it would be safe after 1 hour.

Honestly, I'm just upset about what feels like the new LP cost to personal claims in comparison to the cheap investment of a village claim. I'm guessing it's the nerfs that were intended to discourage safe palis that people complained about last world, but it's utterly crippling early world. A village claim is 30k LP split between multiple people for 101x101, a personal claim will require many times more LP than that to reach the same size. Seems dumb tbh. Current claim is 30x20 and expanding it to the same size as a village claim will cost an additional 100,000 LP at this point.

They are not more expensive to construct than they have been, though. They cost more authority to maintain.

It's been so long since I've cared what a pclaim costs, guess I thought the cost increased as part of that change. If you did increase the auth drain, I can't tell at all. Upkeeping it isn't the issue, it's expanding it. On the topic though, is there any particular reason a personal claim is 3x the cost of a village claim the same size and massively more expensive the larger you go?

Use a small pclaim to protect the village idol between construction and activation, like basically everyone else?

Pclaims are for individuals,, these are not intended to claim excessively big areas.

I'm assuming it went from 60 days max to 30 or 45 days? Still more than enough for all but a few exceptions.

So what is the intended progression for a new player wanting to start a homestead or literally just store some of their stuff? Right now there's an 8 hour window of time where, unless you have rage, you cannot defend your land until the claim is dry. So is it intended that you have to invest 40/50k LP in skills and stats at the start of the game in order to have your stuff not destroyed every 20 minutes?

Hide away somewhere remote till you're ready.
