Coastal Quest Givers Suck

Not always, but I'm noticing the quest givers near the coast will occasionally tell you to meet someone on another continent. Excuse me you spruce tree, but do I look like I have a knarr?

If you're using Amber client it has a bug with the directions of quest givers. My coastal QGs have never set me cross seas.

Though it would be good if they were barred from sending people to quest givers beyond deep ocean.

That could be the case... but when checking the map the locations do check out.

It's badcam that has the bug. If you use the traditional view angle that loftar prefers (:cam ortho to activate) the directions are always accurate.

However, I was told to cross out into the ocean for a quest giver by the coast recently. Nope.

Might be a smallish island nearby? Not sure.

What's wrong with that though?
Yes, right now you can't complete these quests, but later in the game they'll be the good old cross the whole map for some extra rewards quests.

We went back and forth on this during implementation. Some arguments for restricting it per continent, but usually distance should take care of that. Idk.

I'd like to imagine questing will be one of the primary ways of advancing your character early on. Because it is noobies (not those with knarrs) who are dependent on this, it's counter intuitive.

Turns out some of the continents are closer than expected, but still has a notable sliver of deep ocean in-between.

You are not forced in any way to complete every single quest you're given though, so I really don't see what's the issue. Worst case if that is your first or your only quest, but you can just abandon it and get a new one in a reasonable time span.

Well yea, I do abandon them, but it discourages playing by the coast.
