Ideas to help making H&H better in my view

Postby Tribunal » Sun Feb 10, 2019 8:37 am

I'm having a great experience playing Haven, honestly, it's such a great game and every day i'm discovering something, having fun and laughing at the face of the danger with my 20 HHP ruled by diseases. :P :P

But i felt really stressed about the way we can grow in the game, FEP system is really annoying, it just encourage the use of alts and focus in grinding players. The game would be much more satisfying if most players focused in a roleplay, than grinding too deep. People using bots and alts to do everything while their main character just sits in base getting nice meals, doesn't feel like an adventure.

Quests are a really pain in the ass to "go talk with someone then go talk with this other guy.." for a random and probably bad reward, it needs more options and less talking.
Improve infected sores healing % or buff a way to get rid of it.
If you don't want to stop bots, at least make them a bit less powerful, being much less rewarding in doing things that bot shines at and being much more rewarding at doing things that botting isnt possible, i really like the experience you get from exploring the world, its a good idea to encourage adventurers, i really read every word in the texts.

My opinion, devs, try to be more rewarding to adventurers, exploring and seeing everything the map has to offer has been the best way i can get to have fun in this game, its so much satisfying... and also trying to be more a roleplayer than a grinder made me to not get sick of the game, while i was discovering things and talking with others "experienced/pro" players, their style of playing seems to be... pathetic. People fighting in discord and acting like real kiddos to see who have the bigger virtual dick its    ... why do you waste too many hours in a game like this to care only about pvp? Its a really waste of time, go play CS:GO and others competitive games!

Feel free to leave your impressions and contribute to a honestly thread that aims to make haven more enjoyable.

When you play diffrent rts game you whine too about need of making additional workers for increassing efficiency of resouce collecting?

Trying to make bots less powerful is what devs try since lolololo ago, the truth is this game is made for botting and botting makes this game fun.

Are you seriously comparing getting alts with that logic? What a dumb thing to say, just get more people to play with, alts have nothing to do with that, ITS MMORPG. You are the kind of player that ruins the RPG of games, go to your fortnite.

We're trying? Not easy to get people to try this hardcore pvp permadeath crazy game. Until then, how we do things that need lots of players? make alts.

Not disagreeing with you, OP, that would be nice, but "the grind" provides tangible goals for players, and that is very important to motivate playing at all.

So your idea of making a game better is reward you for having a playstyle you consider "best to have fun", while the "pathetic" "experienced/pro" players should go play CS:GO or some other game?
Seems like you're the delusional "kiddo" here, along with a Dunning-Kruger effect.

Because the game in its current state is anti-casual, anti-solo. Sprucecaps get griefed, harassed and one shot by faction murder alts because the game mechanics allow it. Back in Legacy this was a rarer occurrence because of the size of the world and lack of fast transportation (boats, horses etc.) And he has a point with some people having insane egos in this game. Really, there's not a lot of skill in joining a big faction, getting fat off of farmer/miner bots, then running around with overpowered stats griefing newbies. Yet there are entire factions that do nothing but this all day every day and think they're talented or something.

Those kinds of players need to be punished - not PVP in general, just the cancerous style of PVP that certain players partake in which actively harms the game's livelihood by griefing new players who have no recourse and no network of experienced players to fall back to. Make it more difficult to harass new players and abuse mechanics with bots and alts. Ban the people who abuse bots (there's not that many of them), grief and harass people excessively and repeatedly. Some kind of karma system would be nice too, but it needs to be implemented right or it'll get abused to shit and I've yet to see a game that does it right, unfortunately. Full anarchy just doesn't work because some people are assholes and their actions kill the game for others.

The fact that multiple people responded to this guy's genuine criticism with immediate ad-hominem and ridicule says enough to be honest.

not sure what world you're referring to, but... they've all been just as crazy as this one.

Actually, this one and w10 were fairly quiet compared to anything in the past, and w8 was almost completely peaceful.... almost, I said.

They felt a lot bigger to me. Maybe I was just a stupid newb back then or maybe i'm wearing rose tinted glasses, but when I explored I rarely ran into settlements or even sprucecap camps (ignoring the ROB area). Now I constantly bump into palisaded villages.

Personally I think the worlds should be made several factors bigger just to give newbs a little more breathing room. The addition of oceans made it worse IMO because newbs and hermits will struggle to leave their continent and if the continent they spawned on happens to be crawling with hostile factions they're SOL.

While I agree about the world eing larger (I loved w8 for this reason ) griefer will complain again about having to walk too much to bother other people :?
For not being able to move ... please ... it takes 2-3 days to build a row boat ...
