Satiations/Hunger Make Late Game Rebuilding Unpossibru

At the moment the satiation changes paired with the hunger meter can serve to slow down progression and keep us in the spruce cap stages for a little longer, but what will happen a year from now when a developed character is killed and is reduced to 45% or even 10% of all of that slow-burned growth?

Sure you could say that drinks can fix satiations outside of their time gate, but the hunger meter then steps in to knock you back down again.

Go quest, you might say.
It's one thing to actively quest down your hunger meter when grinding out a few hundred in a stat, but when you get into the big boy numbers it just isn't going to even out or get to a point where you can actually progress more than you're toiling away at keeping your meters healthy. When you eat 5 pies and get slapped down to >50% satation or you're forced to drink and go quest again to stay in the golden zone of the hunger meter you will just never have enough time in the day to become competitive again. People who haven't died before would still be questing actively as well; forever miles ahead.

Loftar has said that he'd like to see how drinks play out in practice, but I think the writing is already on the walls in this case.

Too bad that mechanics that could solve that (*cough* character decay *cough*) are unpopular.
Possibly some more worlds need to go down the drain to give more people the time to grasp the reasoning behind such suggestions...

nobody wants to play the game of "keep up with the game trying to punish you for playing it," granger.

also where the heck is the idea here this is so bleak. how does one fix the system as it is?

i think i'm behind un-fucking symbel and altering hunger more-so than i am behind making satiations super trivial. i do think a lot of foods shouldnt chunk out satiations as hard as they do though.

This is more of a critique than an idea.

Satiations do lower way too fast though. It is very possible to eat 2-3 pieces of food and then be done eating that food type for the day and Haven & Drinks just doesn't seem fun to me.

+1 on this idea, to be certain.
jorb: I don't want *your* money. You are rude and boring. Go away.
Sevenless: We already know real life has some pretty shitty game mechanics, it's why we're here instead.
Avu: The end is near it has finally come to pass: I agree with Lunarius...
Shubla: There are also other reasons to play this game than to maximize your stat gain.

It was possible to catch up even 1 year after , atleast for crafting , I've done it.
Granted you spent a massive of time questing but it was possible.
With satiation it's indeed now impossible which seems like a massive issue to me.

I'd like to talk about this now in the early stages rather than later in the world when all we can really do is wait for w12 in the hopes of a better system

I do see this becoming a problem very soon though.

I've considered the idea of a 'catch-up' mechanic which would allow you to progress faster in terms of LP/FEP gain up to the point where your last ancestor died at. This mechanic would at least make it easier to at least get back up and running, but the idea would need to be fleshed out better in terms of numbers which isn't my area of expertise my any means.

Deadman Mode in Oldschool Runescape has this type of mechanic. When you die you lose a % of your stats and stat gain is then buffed by 50%(?) on your inherit up until you reach your direct ancestor's original stats. I'm not sure if this would be abusable at the moment but at a quick glance it doesn't seem to be too harmful unless you consider the buff it would give the einhar prayer. When considering einhar (a prayer which no one really uses at the moment), I could see suiciding, regaining stats and then having a buff einhar becoming the meta again, but that was the meta all throughout legacy anyways. Einhar might need to be reworked under the catch-up system.
