Locks for rowboats

Postby shubla » Sun Feb 24, 2019 4:11 pm

Now that rowboats require quite a bit of effort to construct (tar) we should be able to put locks in them like knarrs.
Basically, if rowboat has a lock in it, you couldn't move it or take items from it. You could maybe sit in it as a passenger, but not move.

Locking something that can be lifted and teleported away with...?
Dosn't make sense.

Obviously it wouldnt be liftable without a key if it has lock

And even if it was, you would still benefit from having the lock in more ways than one.

Actually, the lock could be made lock-pickable also!
Then you would have to use some more effort to steal somebodys boat or stuff from it.

Well, if you want realism, its a wrong game for you. We have knarr locks for example, how are they done? Lots of chain around the ship? I dont think so.

This change would be convenient and useful for many.

Being able to lock the ability to lift or drive the rowboat would be nice actually, even if this is a bit of a troll post. I don't think the locks protection should extend to the contents of the boat or the ability to bash it, just the ability to lift or row it. Its really lame to be boating around and have to risk losing your boat to run inland for a couple minutes. wood/metal locks on them would be appreciated. Maybe the locks should not function in deep water or X amount of tiles from land. This would help prevent locked rowboat dams, not that they are all that hard to bash anyways.

You can already make annoying dams with pclaim and dugout boats. So I dont think that is an issue.
If the locks in boats can be picked, risk of this is further reduced.

I think the lock should also apply to liftables in the boat, its just too easy to take them currently.

If it's lock pickable I don't have a problem with it personally. Gives minor security while you're running on shore to do X without making it impossible to take.
