2 new melee attacks to fill in holes in combat system

Dual Wielding Only

Double Whammy
Requires 2 weapons to be equipped
Damage = % of the combined damage from both weapons

2 Handed Weapons Only

Sweep the Legs
Requires 2 handed weapon (b12, cutlass, boar spear, bow?)
Damage = based on weapon

Please forgive my lack of understanding, but how are these holes in the melee system? Why do they add anything?

What are the lacks of the system exactly?

From my understanding a lack of a decent green opener (UA or MC for that matter) makes sting and raven's bite kind of irrelevant. Honestly RB is kinda garbage for A) costing more IP than sting B) dealing less damage than sting and C) relying in part on yellow, which is countered by zig zag meta. Lacking sting viability, boar spears are permanently useless in melee combat outside pve cheese.

That and UA damage not scaling enough to ever be relevant in pvp are the two big "holes" I see as an armchair combat player. I'm sure the big pvp boys will tell me how wrong I am though, and be completely justified in it.

It's a tricky balance. Making weapons obsolete isn't good, but at the same time making UA or melee pures complete trash seems... unsatisfying? UA is most definitely tankier but its inability to do red/blue the same as MC hybrids can means it can't land any good cleaves.

Honestly a lot of this could be solved by "unarmed" weapons that actually matter since the big issue is that str scales way too slow compared to str+weapon quality. The issue being would "solved" make the meta more complex or just topple it in the other direction.

It gives purpose to different equipment combinations that do not have a purpose right now.

if u have 2 swords in your hand, you cannot do anything special that someone with 1 sword can do. Does that sound right?

same with a 2 handed weapon, you cant do anything special that someone with a puny weapon can do, other than damage.

Soooooooo obviously by adding something for both catagories, you increase variety of equipment people will use. Another good one would be some sort of shield bash. For unarmed, they should bring back strangle. Then basically all equipment combinations would have something special that the others cant do.
