Water carry weight

Postby Vraatjuh » Wed Mar 20, 2019 8:00 am

I would like to suggest a maximum amount of water that a hearthling can carry on him or add a movement debuff above a certain amount.

Currently anyone who pvp's just runs around with max amount of waterskins so he can keep running.
Since everyone is doing this, PVP is momentarily just a marathon contest.
Maybe by adding a maximum people will actually think up new tactics when engaging.

Make it so that you can only carry a max. of 15L? of water in your inventory at any given time without lowering your movement speed.
It doesn't make sense anyway that someone can carry 100L of water and still be able to run as fast as someone who has an empty inventory.

Notably: Water, tested on rats, oral, > 90g/kg, other sources give lower estimates.

Surely a new wound is needed.

Not the first time this has come up recently. I don't think this is enough. Marathoners don't drink when running simply because they just puke it up.

And there's no reason to restrict the amount of water carried when there's no other restrictions on weight or volume. It becomes an arbitrary cutoff that doesn't really play to the mechanics of the game. If we want epic chases and fights over time and such, the whole meta just needs changing and eliminating water from the equation all together.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

I agree that water should be somehow 'eliminated' from the equation, but that would require a whole rework of the system. Something I do not see happening anytime soon.
Weight restriction on water seems to be a good short time solution to me.

There is just no benefit to it at the moment, as far as I know. It makes PVP tedious and long and no one (except botters) have a need for 50L of water at any given time.

Make water not replenish stamina while in combat.
Expand the number of key shortcuts for combat.
Create combat moves whatever you want to call them that relate to running away regaining stamina and positioning while in combat. Think flee and pursue. Flee would give you running/stamina boosts and buff defenses and lower attaks while pursue would give running/stamina buffs but lower defenses.
While at it add stuff that makes combat more fair think stuff like calling one to one as a maneuver massively buffing defenses against other combatants (if target refuses it gets massive cooldown for offensive moves against the guy that offered the move (let's call it coward)) , think cornered wolf as another maneuver massively buffing defenses and attacks but removing mobility. Might even fucking bring archers to the field.

So we back at "no water in pvp"? Sudden restriction to carrying water is simply bad, think of something better.

What if water was reworked to instead give "well-hydrated" buff that increases stamina regeneration? Unfortunately it would screw over every other stamina-intensive activity like chopping trees, mining, construction and farming with low quality scythe.

Make that 'limited water'. Give me a single benefit of having 100 liters of water on you instead of 15? In the current system we might as well make a dragon belt which can hold 1000 waterskins so we can run even longer in pvp.

Yeah it is clear many people want to see water gone...
So far no real thought out idea has been posted I find... maybe can be changed when we get an idea like this balanced..

People want to see water gone because it's fucking retarded how it is. You raider types run around covered in water skins and the only way to keep up is to do the same and people who don't actively seek for pvp need to use their inventory and belt slots for other stuff. In effect you want to maintain the system because it makes you get easy kills on people not prepared to fight. Basically bullying. But that's not surprise because nothing sweeter than beating up the guy that can't fight back eh?
