Wild idea -> Community Manager (World Events)

Very simple idea that is a very dangerous one but lets say "shubla mode on" and go forward.

Choose one person from mods if they want to or choose one of the known community members and let them apply into role of Community manager.
- Creating world events like dropping meteorite, instead of devs doing it.
- Creating live world events like "You hear howling" and then, spawning wolfs in some location to be done with
- Creating treasure chests events or maybe something like spawning a tower with goods in middle of forest and announcing it to the world
- Making facebook and forum more alive as result? Such person could before acting, ask devs on their opinion on certain matter.

Obviously, such events shouldn't be ridiculous in a way that You get a 666Q B12 Axe or 777Q blocks from such things, more in a way of getting "fun" and giving some way of making part of player base busy with some sort of egg hunting.

Enjoy the idea. ¦]

edit: oh shit I forgot "shubla mode off"

to be honest I would like to see more community driven events. I really miss the games that were at CF.

This. Some of this should be doable with in-game items and constructions to trigger local events.

I'll note that this is the role of the "wizards" in MUDs. I know they aren't played much today (in relative comparison to other multiplayer/MMO games), but they were huge in the 90s with some having thousands of active players.

I have a feeling this can be abused in so many ways.

If given to wrong person, yeah. That's why I suggested a mod being picked in first place or known community member.

Community manager in such strongly politicised game with lots of toxic talking wount end well. Instead, there could be more possibilities for players to gather for some sort of world-effort.

Even if you picked the most highly trusted, respected members of the community to perform such things, it would be immediately tainted by suspicion of abuse. It does not matter if any abuse would really occur or not, the possibility that it can happen is enough to make players suspicious and skeptical.

CCP, Blizzard... it doesn't matter who it is. If they have a person with some sort of ability to generate items or otherwise manipulate the game data, it's been abused. People have gotten fired over it. You can't avoid it. Does it stop them from using people to perform said roles? No, because it's necessary to have people there. Why would a person in such a role here be any more or less likely to abuse the system than anywhere else? Developers set up systems of checks and audits to ensure their GMs aren't abusing their abilities.
