Buff Two-Slot Capes' Gildings

hey so i've noticed pretty much absolutely nobody beyond like week one newbies and vandal alts wearing two slot capes (animal hoods, ranger's cloak) of more or less any kind and i think i have a good solution for it

how about we just make two slot capes apply gilding stats twice, or 1-and-a-half times for balance, or whatever. as it stands there is outright no reason to gild a two slot cape when you can just gild a heraldic cape and a hat, or gild a heraldic cape and wear a troll helmet.

the only downside of this i can see would mean it becomes far more efficient to just gilding song and needle a really, really effective two slot cape for certain roles, but that's kind of balanced by the fact that the capes already have pretty fucking awful slots and chances on them.

maybe even some additional gildable hat types that can be worn under a hood, like a sash or a diadem or some shit

as option: all 2 slot capes should have 2 base sockets for gilding, because 2 separate items with gilds are always better

this doesnt sound better. nobody is using the ranger cape and it starts with two base slots.

What about making it so that each "inventory slot" of the cape gilds separately. You get the same number of gild slots as if you had a helmet and a cape, and the bonus raw stats would help offset getting really high gilding count on both halves (since they are tied together, messing one up limits the other). This would be most powerful early game when you're not getting many gildings on in the first place since you're still getting the cape's bonus stats. Late game it would likely be less powerful as making a really good one would be fairly hard.

i've been bitching about this for a long ass time too, at this point i'll take ANY change which buffs two slot capes. i actually like them and wish i could use them (and variety in general is always nice rather than seeing people wearing the same shit constantly) but it's just impossible to justify when there are no benefits and instead only negatives to wearing it.
your idea or sevenless would be ideal, i'd take any of them.

Aren't 2-slot capes also held back by the fact that you can have two of the same gilding, one in hat and one in cloak, but not in a single cape that takes up both slots?

thats kind of why my suggestion is to buff a gilding placed inside the cape instead of just provide more slots. that way you can get the full bonus from if you used Copper Scales on your cape and hat. the only downside is that this makes the really strong gildings even stronger (Ancient Tooth, really goddamn high quality rock crystals, whalebone clasps, meteoric buttons) but tbh the only way this can cause a noticeable problem is if it hit combat meta, IE capes become so strong people are opting for a bear cape (example) instead of a troll helmet, and realistically armor class prevents this.
