List of things that devs tried to fix, but they fucked up

An updating list.

  • Repairing walls during siege => Repairing 75% damaged palisade now takes week(s) and you have to remember to repair it every single day, because the timer is ridiculous and you need more blocks to repair a segment than to build a new one.
  • Forageables being botted => Added global pools, effectively preventing everyone without bots from ever getting any pearls or glimmers, making foraging useless and greatly restricting access to game content for non botting/less active people, while botters still get more (or any) pearls and glimmers than others.
  • Alts being used for hunting => Hardcap all animals by survival of the lowest participant in the fight, forcing everyone to get 300 survival minimum for their hunter, preventing villagers/allies with low survival from attending dungeons and fights against mammoths etc. to prevent capping, discouraging co-operation and inclusion of noobs.
  • Alts being used to block animals => There is now a fair chance that if you die, animal instantly destroys your body with 1 knock, especially if you are hunting with friends.

All things, that could have been fixed in ways, that wouldn't cause more harm than the original problems.

I don't understand this constant balancing and rebalancing and re re balancing of siege. What's wrong with just having a battering ram, once built, to be able to destroy everything in a certain tile radius of where it was built and it's got a 24/30 hour drying time before it can do this? I don't get all the archery tower/catapult nonsense. Although I do like the 'power level' thing where young claims are easier to blow up. Claims are so cheap to make that they ought to take time to get strong.

Sieges are hard to balance and make game play for.
You can't tweak it in favor for the attackers; if you do they go about raiding every hermit they can find.
you can't tweak it in to much of a favor for defenders because then people will build pali outside people's bases to grief.

Siege are ment to be a uphill battle chess battle for attackers and defenders on the high ground. but making it that is something no other game has ever figured out.

Maybe you don't see. But think about some village with diverse playerbase, some pro players and some noob players. Pro players could never take noob players to do dungeons or hunt mammoths with them even if they had enough ua/melee to not instantly die, if the noobs didn't have 300 survival also.
Its kind of boring, and probably not aim of the "fix"

Its kind of boring, and probably not aim of the "fix"

It's not that I don't see, it's that I disagree with you. If they want to go with on the hunt they need to wait until they are less noob. There are reasons for progression gating in games. If everybody can do and have everything on day 1 we have no goals for day 2 and quit.

Well yeah. But some people probably never get 300 survival, I'm just saying that it's not nice that they are then excluded from the fun of others to maximize quality.

You gotta only keep the quality of the final boss, and low-surv lads can uppercut or oppknock

??? it was literally added because people were using op knocks on alts to open. Surely op knocks is a surv capping effect, otherwise the devs missed the issue entirely.
