Meteors fall too close together

Postby saltyidiot » Sat Mar 20, 2021 6:10 pm

Throwaway account so I don't get lynched.

Meteors keep falling in the center of the Fat Dragon Continent (the center one if you're boring). It seems intentional rather than a bug. In theory, this keeps the strong fighting close to the center of the map so the weak can flee to the far corners. In practice, the last 3 at least have landed right outside the BB capital, practically on Snail's lap.

Snail has recently posted a thread (link below) where they express difficulty moving all their villagers around. Therefore, the more difficult a meteor is to get to, the less people show up, unless they really care about it. My hope is that this late in the world, the titans care less, since they already can dominate the market and have had their level 9 mines for months. It would be easier to take on the Empress of the Whole Friggin' Planet if they were alone, rather than with a group.

Now, despite the focus on Snail this thread is not actually about Snail or how strong they are. This about game balance that will effect future worlds, so I ask for focus, Snail happens to be an excellent example is all. It seems for being the strongest, it best to settle at the very center of the world, and whoever should hold that territory has a huge advantage all world. Settling at the edges is more safe, but begets less opportunity.

I recommend expanding the range the meteor can fall greatly, perhaps including other continents. This range should not included the far edges of the world so the "Edge Lords" can have their peace and quiet, but us barbarians can sneak on a meteor on a bad day for the titans. Maybe even get to level 9 if we get rrazy lucky and get a few meteors. There are those who suggest expanding the map, so they can be even more alone, but my locality is untouched so I don't know what they're on about.

smart move by the devs

keep the cancer contained to one continent, it's the only way to deal with it

It is intended that meteors fall on the starting continent, but any further concentration within that continent is certainly unintentional. I'll have to look into that.

I do like that, but it also ensures your "cancer" has earlier access to the best metal and makes it easier for them to deny access to it.

Thank you for your reply. It is entirely possible that it is RNG but I'd say at least 3/6 that I have observed have been close to the BB capital, which is also a huge settlement. A solution would be to prevent it from falling within range of a previous strike site, perhaps with a time limit or just a reduced chance compared to other eligible sites. Also while my group would appreciate a change this world, I think as a game balance issue it's most important to change before w13. This would be to observe meteor distribution throughout both the players and geography.

i agree, there is no damn reason for the meteors to be so exclusive to the point where nobody but top tier faction level people can get their hands on one with out paying up. meteors falling on main continent is fine but they should split up in to smaller pieces so the small bois can get lucky and smelt some too.
see homo sexuality trending,. do not do that.

What would be the point of meteors if there's no reason to fight for them? Might as well just remove them at that point.

Make the main chunk high quality, while the small chunks' only purpose is to unlock level 9 MH, how about that?

This way, big factions will still fight for the big one for its quality and the amount you can mine, while smaller groups *could* fight for the small ones. Right now unless you're part of a big faction, you're locked behind level 8 mines only.

If that's the issue to be solved, I think the solution is to change the cost for level-9 mineholes instead.

The issue right now is that there is no reason to fight for them late world, because you will lose. The only reason to fight is it's early world and you think you have a shot. Splitting up meteorites splits up the factions who want them, especially if small chunks yield very little bars. That way, groups interested in L9 will participate in multiple fights across multiple meteors.

I suggest "Star Gaze" point to the biggest piece, until it cools, then it points to the nearest. Que factions splitting up or checking smaller chunk close to them or close to the big chunk, but smaller groups getting scraps from small chunks at the risk of encountering fellow scavengers or even the big bois. Still risky, still a fight.

Imagine getting away from Snail only to have all your ore turn into the slag, lol. Just to have that chance though, to participate in Pvp even at lower levels would be welcome.

... would you be so kind and let ppl to try L9 with the next update? Could you just swap meteor with other valuable resources to maintain the status of of L9 mines.
