windows opening in odd places = not good

Thoughts on the further development of Haven & Hearth? Feel free to opine!

windows opening in odd places = not good

So.
Cupboards open in middle, top.
Smoke sheds open on right bottom corner.
Stockpile window opens uncomfortably top right corner.
Maybe its just me but I feel like locations where some windows open is just pulled out of devs asses or something. They should take a look at where they open or is it client specific?
Seem to get odd opening places for some windows on default client too.

Where do you think it should open?

In the middle, and not extreme corners maybe?

If all window opens in middle, will it not be hassle to have all window obscure the others?

If I can open 10 windows at once, I'd like to see some sensible window functionality, too. I hate how when I open three cupboards to move things around I have to move the cupboard windows around first.

Not any more so than it currently is. And it's an MMO game, so middle isn't a smart place to open windows.

+1 for sensible window management... like tiling and cascading.

The behavior is a bit arbitrary, yes, but that's entirely intentional. I find it somewhat baffling that you'd want windows to open in the middle of the screen, as that would obscure the character, making it harder to click other objects in the vicinity without having to move the windows out of the way first. If anything, the client goes out of its way to try and not auto-place windows on top of the character. The reason different things open in different places is just so that windows from different things try to not conflict with each other.

Not sure what you mean by that either. When I open three containers, the client tends to properly put their windows side-by-side, exactly so that they don't have to be moved out of the way of each other.

I wonder if its possible for windows to remember the screen position they were last left on?
IE if I open a cupboard and move the windows to the top right and then close it and reopen it will reopen at the top right.

arguable I need to stop being lazy.

Toolbelts already do that, but containers are a bit trickier, since there may be multiple windows for the same kind of container open at once, making it less than obvious which position should have its position saved.

Perhaps, but to be honest I also personally kind of like that the such windows don't save their positions, so that my random movement of windows doesn't save any kind of state that I really want saved.
