viewtopic.php?f=48&t=70455#p878626but yeah, ever since visitor gates were made a thing and locked houses were introduced (even before them really), there's just zero reason to keep the current system.
All it does is encourage people to make several ugly hacks in order to be the most secure you can be: in the past it was airlocks, then it was airlocks with roundpole fences, now it's that as well as airlock systems with locked homes to deaggro in
i just fail to see the point in it all; back when we had a more hardcore system, but taking inch-by-inch steps away from it has just degraded the entire system; it's not hardcore like it used to be, but it's not intuitive or easy to use either. it just has a whole lot of jank and clunky aspects that need to be worked around, which basically only seems to harm new people into the game. you don't even gain anything by stealing someone's mkey, you just gain the ability to fuck up their base forever and that's about it
