Grubs and Razor clam availability

Postby Sevenless » Wed Apr 28, 2021 7:30 pm

Both razor clams and grubs have somewhat of a place in the food tree despite being mediocre, but currently are ignored because of how hard they are to get in any kind of quantity.

Grubs should spawn inside mirkwood logs at the quality of the log. Mirkwood grub farms would be harmless if anyone decided to like them enough to do that. Stump/log checking in salem wasn't horrible imo.

Razor clams just need to spawn more frequently and in clusters. If I could get a table full, I'd use them for food. But if I can only find 1-2 per forage trip I won't bother picking them.

Grubs could use a buff overall, like 500 energy and 1 hunger. They're meant to be a bear-grylls style survival food, and since their big draw is a whole lot of protein, they should be a great early game energy food, as of now they suck really bad on their own.

Grub pies are quite nice, could stand for more creepy crawly foods (and more edible creepy crawlies in general.)

If they were farmable i'd definitely be interested just for grub pies.
Total misplay.

I could be wrong, but I have a recollection that this already happens.

It was a mechanic in salem, if it's a mechanic in haven it's not nearly quickly enough to matter. First week or two of the world no mirks had grubs in them.

I believe it's only when the log converts the first time do they spawn/appear. Only Q10 as well

Did you take into account that during autumn it's easier to get grubs from the leaf piles?

Only if an easier way to boil them is added. Slow boiling stuff in the cauldron is the worst.

They really aren't good enough to be a seasonal food either :/ Snails make the cut, but only barely.

I guess the alternative is to buff grub pie enough to care about the volume in the fall?

This appears relevant

Not sure why the grub is a multiple of the log Q, but 80 logs giving "1-2 a week" still goes with my general request of more please. I was hoping more along the lines of 1-2 grubs/day at significantly more sane qualities.

Thanks for showing though ^^
