honestly great idea. would make sence, and would act as access too adders wich are getting kinda usefull right now and might be rare-ish depending on where you live.
they also can be outran on foot so i don´t see them as dangerous for noobs that dont intend too stand and fight the snek.

but it would somewhat destroy the carefree skipping through the leavepiles feeling you get while hoarding grubs for pies and picking up mediocre curios on the way, every way , for 30 days. i like fall .
+for more things in leavpiles. spoders where? hedgehogs, maybe aggressive ants ,

I wouldn't mind hedgehogs, but turning relaxing jumping through leaves piles into a walk through landmine sounds like kinda sadistic idea. Not to mention all those poor newbs who spawn during fall, minding their every step or they can die.
I'm saying this treating snake bite = death, maybe the new anti-venom makes it a nightmare of the past.
