Snow Accumulation is Shit

I know winter has been tweaked many times, but honestly where in the world does snow fall and accumulate in tiny random patches like this?

It is SUPER COMMON for one to wake up to a near instant accumulation of snow, winter can easily smack a 30-40+ cm blanket on you overnight or in a few hours

Since winter is now only 5 irl days, why can't we just have insta-snow?

Like as soon as winter hits we should get some kind of snow animation like it's literally snowing out for a few IRL hours and then ALL the snow should immediately accumulate

let us use sleds and be able to forage snow foragables right away

the only thing left about winter that is shit is the waiting periods between snow falling and melting

I agree. This would make the coming of winter at least more exciting rather than most players seeing it as a period for hibernation.

I believe the reason it only comes in patches now is because people in the middle of credos and quest were cockblocked from being able to finish since nothing was forageable due to everything being snow

No, there was no reason for it. Anybody who can't plan ahead can suffer for 5 days so we can actually enjoy the winter content.

I don't necessarily believe we should keep patchy snow i was just iterating the reason i thought it was implemented but i also think the prospect of making credo hunters suffer simply for aesthetic reasons is a bit drastic. Ultimately i see this as a failing of both Credos and Winter, and i believe Credos should be altered so they only quest for season approriate goods, but until Credos are fixed destroying all biomes for 1 winter biome will screw over alot of people and your original point of this thread was to lessen winter as hibernation period, but removing patchy snow will make it even more of a hibernation period.

Ideally i want both patchy snow and credo quest fuckery to be fixed so they don't conflict, but as of right now patchy snow is better then dead credos for 5 days.

Not at all. In fact, it was worse in the past (though winter was longer back then), and it was at one point tweaked to make the snow accumulate faster.

I agree with everyone else that the moment between winter restrictions becoming activate and winter advantages appearing sucks; you get all of the negative aspects of winter but have to wait for the positive parts. Insta-snow would be nice.

Have you ever actually played during winter? Kicksleds are awesome, and rivers and lakes freezing further boosts your mobility. It has a major gameplay impact, but moving kicksleds over patches of non-snow is a lot less fun.

Could it then be accelerated a bit? Also, having snow or rain animation even if it just a gif or an image overlaying everything, with a way to enable/disable it of course, would be great.
