Hearthling's Mood

Postby dafels » Tue Jun 29, 2021 9:04 pm

Characters should have moods.
If you overeat the character should feel a short period of happiness but after that a steep slope into depression and no energy.
If the character does interment fasting for a few days the intelligence and perception should be buffed, but too much of it should lead a into depression that debuffs all the attributes.
If the character does some meaningful job like has milked all the cows and done all the farming, then the character should be happy.
If the character has finished building something, it should also boost the mood.
If the character is doing a lot of walks into the nature like foraging, it should boost the mood.
If the character kills a bear or some other wild creature, it should boost the mood.

If the character has depressive mood, all work should take 5x the stamina of usual.
Happy levels should boost the attributes.

Any more ideas?

Yes it does.

Have you never had one of those shitty days that seemengly usual stuff seems to take more energy from you to do than usual?
I think hearthling's characters should never be an exception to this.

Well normal people are usually affected by how they feel.
Some sensitive individuals get affected by it even more.
Look at how the anger of being stolen from makes Dante and Snail hunt a griefing hermit 24/7. Huge boost in irl stamina.

this is probably the stupidest suggestion yet
we don't need this at all one bit
play Legacy and punch frogs to get your happiness for your character

Reminds me of Salem's Insanity/Madness system. Very neat in concept, but massive newbie trap and even more experienced players may have trouble with it. My friend was receiving madness levels regularly with no discernible reason until he discovered there was a "Hangman Tree" in a spot where it was close enough to render but not show up on his screen.

Once you knew what you're doing, it just became a chore to study smallest possible inspirational every 15 or 30 minutes when performing an activity that increases passive Insanity gain, like mining.

Not cordially opposed to something like this, as long as OP isn't directly implemented. Gilding system in Haven is proof that Jorbtar can take a thing from Salem and make a better version out of it.
