Mine supports without metal

Postby meus » Sun Aug 08, 2021 11:49 am

Might have been suggested before... but couldn't find any - mostly just topics exist about balancing mine support costs.

Could we have a kind of a mine support that requires no metal?

It could be some wooden support that requires more rope or just more wood (or bone glue, for example).
Or some kind of a brick (or stone) vault or arch - without metal required.
It may have e.g. 6 tile radius, as opposed to the (currently) lowest 9 tile radius one which, however, requires metal.

Bone glue sounds good, but there is actually one, sorta. Your mine entrance itself acts as a support in a radius, so you can make a mine entrance and use that in place of a wooden beam. Might be helpful if you plant your claim on top of iron or another metal you detected with rustroot, this way you can safely get your first bar.

For example, when mining just to make a tunnel to another area, or mining for coal, etc. - but still not having metal.

Metal is already easy enough if you just prospect as intended.
You don't even need coal to get bars for supports.

i agree a simple rock/wood based mine support that only gives protection in 1x10 radius would be ideal.
see homo sexuality trending,. do not do that.

personally imagine these as
frame/arch shaped supports for tunnels timbering with 3 tiles radius and dual collision box (hex shaped hitboxes for less stucking movement)
As seen below, should require some additional mining due to wide outer bounding box

Digging without support is easy enough. Not need support that requires no metal.
