Re-Implement boar tusk snuff

currently there aren't many uses for boar tusks (as well as other fancy bones) so it would be nice to find one, because when you come back from a hunt you will end up with a lot of boar tusks you won't find an use for
also make boar tusk snuff last longer than they used to

Fancy bones are bone glue fodder, make more glue trolls.

Boar snuff would be cool but the implementation probably shouldn't just be a 1:1 copy of legacy snuff.

Idk, introducing an item that effectively forces you to have tons and tons of it and consume it regularly to gain an advantage when mining for example seems like added tedium to me.
Maybe not a big deal, just thinking of the big picture here.

fuck balance boar tusk snuff was cool

give it a daily use limit or something, wounds that pile up high really fast if you overdose

given the point is that it's supposedly a strength enhancing stimulant, i'm sure we can all accept a wound to keep this in check if it did get re-added. maybe something like "heart failure" or whatever happens when you have a cardiac arrest on cocaine. the first few uses of da coco don't damage, then small damage, that rises exponentially.

Or muscle fatigue / strain. The wound can start out like that giving negative strength. If you continue to abuse the substance(since it probably outweighs the negative effect of the wound even after a couple uses) then the wound grows & converts into a torn muscle or something

but it's a little bit shame to use them for glue, because, you know, they are fancy, and not plain
for glue you can still use plain bones that you surely have significantly more than fancy bones

we could also have bear tooth snuff that is even stronger than boar tusk snuff at the same quality, and other fancy bone snuffs that instead of strength increase agility, or other stats

or perhaps they could simply be good curios, better than the fancy bones themselves? because fancy bones are rather terrible curios, but crafting snuff could increase their LP/H/slot to the point that makes them comparable to good curiosities

indeed, I have not thought of it this way, so maybe they could be good curios as I said

Just make boar tusks as well as other fancy bones into alchemy ingredient, no need to make separate mechanic when performance-enhancing concoctions are already in the game.

any example that gives something useful worth using and requires this ingredient?

or am I supposed to test a large number of other variable ingredients with this ingredient just to find out if there is one?

I also don't think that adding one simple item is so much work that takes so much time, they do it like every patch

but yeah I wouldn't mind if it was a potion instead, just make it worth using, because if it's not worth using it is not worth it to implement such thing as well

I guess I will have to use them for glue then, so whole thread was pointless!

In theory only. Their utility is zero due to how alchemy works. Durations are incredibly short, boosts are relatively small, boost amount doesn't scale with characters.

Early game when you'd care about 10-20str, you have to eat overly punishing wounds because your alch combos are only partially developed. Lowering HHP on miners isn't super viable due to cave ins/monster attacks. Mid/late game you can make a "perfect" potion, but the boost is no longer relevant in quantity.
