Thingwalls as Community-Centered Quest Givers

Postby GamingRAM » Thu Jan 13, 2022 9:38 pm

Thingwalls will have a providence related task, wanting large quantities of certain item(s). There is no time limit to complete these, but once they are completed there is a 1week/2week cooldown before the next Thingwall task. The next task items will be visible during these 2 weeks so players can prepare.
Successfully completing a Thingwall task will reward all those who participated with EXP, LP, and the providence associated with the Thingwall will get some kind of boost, such as certain resources in the entire providence receiving a Quality boost, similar to that of a quest giver boosting Q, but this time far more wide-spread.

The idea is to help have more "MMO" in the game, and also to serve as an item sink.

(I didn't play this world so correct me if I'm wrong, but thingwalls are currently not quest givers, they're just realm borders, right?)

Would be way better than the stupid quality boosts on quest givers currently.

This is creative, I really would appreciate getting more use out of thingwalls and also being able to contribute as an individual player in a province!

I definitely agree that any bonuses being provided should be "province wide" when it comes to quest givers. The group questing concept is neat as well.

Thingwalls will require you to donate hats, mark my words :D

Instead of items, thingwalls could ask for:
-harvest quests. 300 bluebells and 7000 flax to be harvested within province limits
-animal population controll. stomp 450 frogs and defeat 700 otters.
-forestry. plant 800 strawberry trees and harvest 72k elm bough. no tree chop quests bc that would be just dumb
-foraging deliveries, hopefully seasonally correct.
-fishing. Imagine that. More fishing tedium.
-crafting?

Rewards would be 1) distributed exp/lp among the contributors proportionally. 2) region wide improvements that are relatable to quests, ie strawberry trees now give 1 extra seed. Well controlled otter population rises in quality.

-1

The mechanics for province-wide bonuses were already circulated
It does not make a dent in making it more "MMO" as trying to be claimed. It would just demand individual players to work more/harder to produce gifts for Thingwalls
Thingwalls will become even more ganking/killing grounds
    Duplicates existing questgiver system
Yet another tedium source with questionable rewards over duplicated system and lack of purpose

this game is designed from ground up to assist and promote players being able to play as a group, larger and smarter, the better.
so, my point is that your reason that hermits will have to struggle af to make 1 quest per month while large faction's hometown can make in 1 week is invalid
