yep
it is a key thing in this game, everyone has to choose some set of foods that they craft if they want to get any meaningful progress in this game
crafting / buying some proper tools and then getting and processing some materials is not such a difficult thing is it? you only have to get one set of tools and seldom update it to your top quality
and of course it does take time, but so does hunting, farming and all other things, should we take these away from the game? what would the game be about in this case?
cooking or finding materials to cook with is one of the things that I spend a decent amount of ingame time on, it is probably one of the 3 most time-consuming activities along with farming and hunting
do not expect to craft everything from the list of ingame foods, you would run out of time without achieving the goal, this idea is just to add more options that we can do to reward ourselves
or since we have 9 FEP stats, perhaps we should have only 9 recipes that use one the same material and one the same simple, quick process, and delete everything else that adds flavor and makes the game? won't you complain about lack of things to do ingame in this case?
imagine if we only had one crop in the game, that every good food item is crafted with, wouldn't the screen of one crop farm look boring? what about hunting? would it become useless? we need a variety of activities in order not to make the game too boring
if everything in the game was done almost instantly or if it was simplified and had very few industries you would probably quit from the lack of sense of achievement and no more things would be there for you to do
