Its basically two separate games

I just thought I would show people who think that clients don't matter, and they aren't a big deal.
This is how you see the game. A hard to traverse mountain. A mountain that forces you to swing your camera around to try to find a place to click(All the time)

And... this is how I see the game. A flat easy to walk around area with a bunch of little cliffs that aren't really even a nuisance. This place might as well be a flat grassland as far as my client is concerned.

Here is the sad truth, every single fight on a mountain is a 3v1, even when It's a 1v1. My two partners work in tandem, they are "clifford", and "elevation san" If you do not have "elevation san and "cliffs" disabled on a mountain, then every fight will be a 3v1 against you.

It's frankly sad to find a random on a mountain and know that he has 0% chance to escape from me, and not because I'm better, but because his screen is literally blocked, and he is forced to swing his camera around while he runs. Not only that but the huge changes in elevation mean his clicks will never be precise while mine are. Run fighting is hard enough for a random, but how is he supposed to fight back while running and swinging his camera, and accurately clicking with the elevation in the way to escape? He can't. That's because I can always find the most direct route without any effort.

Even if I am on the losing end, do you think he has a chance of catching me if I want to leave? His screen shows a winding path, while I see a straight line, I can't lose because it was never fair to begin with... and that kind of makes me sick.

This is messed up. There's no sport or fun to be had in pvp when we aren't even playing the same game.

At the very least please consider adding this feature to the base client

Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

irrelevant. if you see them jumping down u simply follow. It doesnt matter how high the cliff may or may not be. Even if somehow it were better to be able to see elevation, the problem here is that randoms don't even get to make that choice, the option isnt there.

Infact u bring up a good point, maybe i should ask the creator of the client to make tiny cliffs darker the higher elevation they are, so i can instantly tell, now I get the best of both worlds, and the randoms still get nothing.

Can I bet that this feature is not the most useful one of your client compared to the public ones?

i mean you are 100% right there, on the other hand i like how haven actually looks, i know pvp players all use there hyper optimised superflat, blocky border no fluff clients, wich results in waay better visibility and performance and jadajada,

on the other hand getting an edge in pvp by virtue of the client you are using, and the fact it essentially turns the game intoo an bitmap,is something that would be highly questionable , if not illegal in any other game, than this, where you modevieing the everliving shit out of the game and client, is basically part of the game now, and as essential as understanding the combatsystem,

i know the solution will probbably be superflatmaps for everybody, but i rather wish it wasnt, instead of just ending this tomfoolery

numeric or color representation of tile height can be programmed into a custom client for sure, its the matter of not being lazy

it certainly has been already since at least a few years ago, probably further back than that. I recall some screenshots from some AD guys that showed the indication of elevation going up or down while the mountain terrain was flattened.

The main problem here is not if it's better or worse .... but your whole process of thoughts. Efficiency doesn't mean better.

This would be the same with everygame, and like many others people already point out, why don't you play with just numbers on the screen??

The use of custom clients is very detrimental for the game, something is wrong? Ask to improve it and patiently wait, and play with the same rules of everybody else .... no rules? no game.

Thx to these "efficiency" statements, I see first time players, who doesn't even know how to craft a kuska, using elaborate custom clients and quitting after their first session.

Math and efficiency doesn't make a work of art beauty ... only human minds can create and shape something that is appealing and beneficial for others human beings, this is very true pretty much for everything, our life, politics, arts and games too.

Stop these bullshit technocratic supremacy we are all aiming to in our era, we will pay the price and won't be cheap.

Reject Technique, come back to Monke!

P.S. Other than that, Yes please address the well known " better rapresantation of height " sooner than later, pls.
