ant dungeons

Pardon if this has been discussed previously (a search found nothing).

We should have a way to destroy an ant dungeon without going in and fighting all the ants. For example, build several fires around the dungeon, when they've burnt out the ants are gone; or dump barrels of water on the dungeon, a certain amount of water in a certain amount of time and the ants are gone. You would get no rewards from this other than the dungeon is gone.

This occurred to me recently when I logged in to find an ant dungeon sitting at the edge of my claim (about half on and half off); if I finish the claim and pali as planned I will have to live with this blasted dungeon wasting space just inside the pali.

Just beat the dungeon? They're not particularly difficult with a friend, even at low stats.

They should probably despawn X weeks after they've been first peaked into. The way to destroy them is to go in and kill the queen for players, that seems fine enough.

Thanks for the input. I'm not a fighter, if I need to raid an ant hill I look for one with no more than two swarms, I can take out those and have about 20-30hp remaining at best, certainly not going into a dungeon. Asked a neighbor, advanced enough to be mining and built a snekka, they said they weren't up to defeating an ant dungeon. As for despawning, one appeared outside my pali in August in the world before last, was still there when world ended in March. Guess I'll have to live with squatters on my claim.

I absolutely understand why you wouldn't want it anywhere near your claim, especially if it's within whatever limited space you have (It sounds like this is your first pali being dropped, so of course you don't have the means to take care of it). I hate to say it, but try and see if there are friendly players willing to clear it for you. Just let them keep everything they find, I'm sure someone would be down, since they won't have to look for it. Give them trespassing permissions until it's cleared. It's just kind of risky inviting someone to your claim, so fully expect to get fucked over or cheated in case it actually happens
