New world same issue,

Postby Reiber » Sun Oct 22, 2023 3:40 am

once again i would like to complain about how time consuming and irrelevant the 2,5 seconds to press an single produce are,
we will see if non water drinks can get somewhat relevant this world, even with there benefit of energy preservation mostly gone by the change to eating below 8k

but at the current time it is enough labor and needless time sinks to form its own profession, just without it having any stat requirements for 90% of the process, and no credo or aplyable boni, wich makes it highly botable, ( i would guess nobody does that as for the slim benefits though)

as it currently is, simply pressing 1 barrel of calvados takes 2 real world houres, just for pressing, and that is assuming that you have an script running perfectly refilling and emptying the press, with 5k apples stockpiled in the same room,

pressing the same amount of brandy takes 4 real world houres, as grapes only yield half the liquid,

during those 4 houres, you have to click the press button every 62 seconds, after emptying and refilling ofcource,

please just reduce the time it takes to press an singular item, or make the press work through its entire inventory at once, increase the yield of pressables, make the speed scale with strenght or con, or give me an credo that does it i dont care, but i dont wanna make an pressbot that keeps the extractor running all day, just so that i have time to plant and cycle the 500 appletrees needed, or 2500plants of grapes

an barrel of brandy also isnt even sufficent get 8 peope drunk

Is your profile picture a cave man because you are roleplaying as one? Bob Dole can't understand 90% of what you are saying.
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

ok, apologies reiber lacks the literary talent of bob dole.
reiber will try to explain it to bob dole then,
squishing the juice out of one single apple takes 2,5 seconds,
pressing the whole inventory of an extraction press takes 62 seconds,
pressing one barrel full of calvados takes 120 minutes, (just the time sitting on the press and waiting for it to finish)
240 minutes if you are making brandy,

now imagine bob dole would smelt his ore, but instead of filling 39 smelters, and lighting them, then come back an houre later and its finished,
he would need to sit on an single smelter, refill, empty, and press an button every 62 seconds, for 4 houres.

reiber would think it would be great if he didnt have to sit on that press for that long, or if his stats would help him somewhere in the process,
or he had an credo that would help him, like bob dole can make his ore smelt better or his smelters larger

reiber also dosnt get any benefits from quality of the still, they only cap down , never up like smelters, kilns or cauldrons.

The way to fix this would be to add a new machine to the windmill that's for pressing rather than grinding. Grinding with a quern is inconvenient, too, but it's supposed to be. For industrial-scale production, there's industrial-scale machinery. (In theory, anyway.)

(As for the brandy barrel to drunkenness ratio, that probably needs some adjustment too. I don't think 8 people drinking an entire barrel of brandy between them would be survivable.)

+1 for more automatisation via buildings.
Other example could be the introduction of a sawmill to cut wood

would be cool, but then then the windmill press would have to be easily replaced, as the quality of the extraction press is currently the only thing affecting fermented drink and oil quality,

Most tedious tasks, like pressing juice, making cloths, making rope, etc. Should have their own machine in windmills, working similar to flour, but instead of taking it with a barrel just give it an 8x8 inventory for output.
