To combat the steel locked safehouses you should add steel lockpicks that are able to open them quickly.

+1 if as per usual you guys are in "no remove, only add" mode

However, I really feel no fighter will enjoy having -1 inventory slot (PVP shit already takes up your entire inventory), and also nobody wants to raise their dext/stealth/int on a fighter. I think it would be better to either just yeet the lock entirely, or make it very weak even at high qualities. Maybe not scaling with quality at all.

The whole idea with the lockpick is that theres more use for hard to obtain metals. Theres not enough consumables made out of steel.
Having a tool to open those pesky 1h locks quickly is nice too.
Maybe steel prices wont be so shit next world.
Oh yeah the lockpicks should also break after every picked lock.

It wouldn't rly be functional as a consumable without changing other mechanics since you can relock the door by going in/out in 2 tick

definitely need to make it fit on keyring

^ what medieval lockpicks looked like

and also nobody wants to raise their dext/stealth/int on a fighter.

i think the idea is that that's something you need to spec into, by raising DEX which is otherwise unneeded.

i think when a lock is picked you should need to spend some amount of metal nuggets to repair it, the same amount a lockpick costs, also fixing it should probably take time.
Total misplay.

Just make the only lock be Q10 wood locks. They don't serve a meaningful purpose. Gates and Boats don't care. Locks within your own village are just there to leave a scent.

Seems like an easy fix.
Add set amount of durability to locks.
More material sinks are good for the game economy.

  • You don't know where the houses are ahead of time
  • There are many houses, especially late world when every decaying base is +10 safehouses
  • There are alts moving the shit you put in front of the door

ur one imagined scenario is probably not how it's going to play out in reality

im quite positive when you gank a hermit he will get kod/dead before anything, so we talking about pvp players vs pvp players ganks. When you do gank a faction player you plan ahead so you already know where their stuff are. Similar to ganking a dock imo, i havent tested. for now, i feel this setup is easier than dock ganking. and snekkja would be a superior escape vs your group.
