wont happen until they drop the game entirely, BUT

i do wonder what effect it would have on the main servers population, or if it would just kill the game entirely

i guess the question is would factions still play this game without the hermits to dunk on

or conversely what % of hermits would leave to play private servers

Yes, please allow private servers. If the game is in a healthy state all it can do is put money in the devs pockets. Let the losers err..casuals build out the server populations while you monetize as you see fit and profit.

Surely the superfans that are so vocal about the purity of your vision will stay, spend money and support you? They owe you that much, right? And how great would it be to get the rabble out of the way so the true lovers of the game could battle it out day after day on one tiny continent. This is the fix these adrenaline junkies need!

16.1 could lead to some innovation server side, who knows, maybe someday will be easier to instantiate new worlds for special accounts... guess you'd need to set a max num of players, but it's a long shot

Haven can be played at a casual rate, you don't need to go as fast as everyone else. It takes a good while for your claims to auth to go down, yes maybe without walls you might struggle but RN in W16 people wont be bothering you.
The ramifications of private servers will basically kill the game forever, sure a few people will setup their little private server with friends but it will for sure get boring as hell. If resets tell you anything is that everyone loves it when the population is high and there is a bit of chaos and also a lot of socialising, getting to know your neighbours and trading between them etc and also having them as "competition" (not pvp competition) is also get motivation.

No one really wants this, they beg for this and PvE servers but they have not really thought about what makes Haven, Haven..

Haven is perfectly playable regardless of how much time for gaming you have, I don't think being a dad makes you any different from rest of community overall.
