Readings are inconclusive... we already have a brickwall, albeit I'm not sure if that is worth the extra cost.

Unless I remember wrong, there was a big wall-of-text about how there should be several tiers of walls and somebody shot it down pretty comprehensively. I can't recall much detail, though.

I'm like 50% joking, but I don't like how it is right now where it's totally binary either you have a palisade or you don't and bwalls are pointless

Brick Walls and Palisades are the openly walls worth building as the others have no soak whatsoever and cannot defend against anything. Wouldn't be a bad idea to give wood walls 1 point of soak and stone walls 5 points of soak

Wtf is soak

The damage you deal is square root of your strength, axe adds 1, pick adds 2, ram adds 20. So, if you're using a pick trying to destroy something with 5 soak, you need to do at least 6 damage total, or 4 from your strength alone. 4^2 = 16, so you'd need at least 16 strength.

What? Who the hell understands this scheibe. Just have normal damage and hitpoints like every other game

You are not the smartest fella, just imagine this as "object hardeness" like it is at tabletop games.

It's just building armour, how is that complicated?

What does a 12,000hp building need 12 armor for?

Anyway I've had someone explain "soak" to me in the DMs but I'm still confused why jorbtar think this is better than having just regular ol hitpoints.

These needlessly complicated mechanics are probably why so many new players keep dropping the game. People play to have fun, they don't wanna have to pull out a calculator IN LANDSCAPE MODE and do some boring math every 5 seconds.
