The only way is to hide successfully and have multiple backups, if you put everything in the same place you are not planning properly. multiple claims, multiple small satellite bases. multiple unclaimed hidden frames/tubs. sure its alot to manage but I have yet to have a world were more then 2 of my stashes have been found.
yea but that's a lot of trouble and like objectively not fun.
it would be fun if i were able to defend my settlement but like what am i gonna do, KO him and steal my stuff back and get outlawed and let him and 2 friends kill me at my hearthfire that i can't protect until hour 50?
to add onto myself one idea is that "perimeter walls" are a new separate kind of fence/wall that includes palisade/bwall and a new simple stone one that only takes like 30 STR to bash but has a lot more HP than the stone fence, and perimeter walls can only be box shaped and you can only have 1 layer per claim, thus meaning you need to put it on the outermost part of your claim, and that smashing "perimeter walls" deals SHP DoT or per smack and not per piece smashed. obviously raid parties will just have a designated wall smasher but it would at least give people who are willing to battle for their new claim a fighting chance early on here where the thief has to understand that by buying expensive crime skills he's losing LP his victims may have spent on UA/MC/MM and that he won't fight at maximum capability if they retaliate. (this would also solve cringe losers building 20 layers of palisade to make themselves unraidable.)
