Forageable stones would be great as long as there is an in-game option to turn them off (really, you should be able to turn off any of the minimap icons, I don't need taproot anymore thanks).

Without that feature, forageable stones would only clutter the map past the first hour of play.

I don't think the forageable stone would need to be any more common than taproot.

Personally I don't see the need for forageable stones, there are plenty if you just move away from the spawning area, I never understand why anyone would want to stay near the spawning area in the first place .... but if it's that important to you, I guess being able to find pebbles in rivers as LadyV suggested or on beaches wouldn't be too bad.

You can turn off minimap icons in the Amber client, btw.

This argument is for people who are extremely new to the game. Any game that says "do nothing for the first 1-3 hours depending on your luck" isn't exactly beckoning new players to enjoy it.

That said, the quarry terrain and mountains having stone is enough to solve this issue imo.

The first few hours of playing any game sets the impressions for the player, unfortunately the first few hours of playing this game is fucking awful if you have no idea what you are doing, and not many new starters actually read the forum before they start playing.

I think this is an important problem, and if the devs want any kind of new player base anytime soon, then that's too bad, because they won't get any at all the way the new starting area currently is.

You could handle this a few ways, forageable stone might not be such a bad idea, although once you leave the grid it becomes quite unnecessary and possibly quite annoying, you could say stones appear for 1-20 exp, then make it so the character stops seeing them (since its quite unnecessary once you leave the grids) or maybe make it on a timer, so fresh characters can forage stones for the first 24 hours.

I've bumped into people who had built palisades but that didn't know about "travel to HF". I am guessing it's the same with the A->D action, obvious to us, but not to nabs. Takes time before you can become a seasoned adventure digger. This thread was mostly to get those people who try the game for like 10 minutes to actually stick around for an hour, that might turn into a lifetime well spent in this game, with some luck. :)

New players dont necessarily want to make 5k lp only to make stone axe. They get bored /frustatedbefore that.

I'm talking about the runestone spamming, its so easy to destroy rocks to make runes and it doesn't exactly contribute to helping the matter.
