Something like Sting could be a higher multiplier for a spear than a sword for another example, since a spear is a more effective piercing weapon than a sword. Similar concept for Chop between sword and axe, too.

Something like that would be awesome.
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

To me, the thought springs to mind that Sword would have the option of the most moves whilst other weapons would be more effective in their respective areas. Something along the lines of Sword having Chop, Slash, Pierce (Sting) - Spear having Slash, Pierce - and Axe with Chop and Slash. Spear being more effective with Pierce, Axe with Chop, whilst sword being a nice general weapon with all three of them available.

spear just sucks right now. lower damage and no shield. i see it as using it with an UA deck and having a ranged attack
i think spear should be good for piercing flesh and chinks in armor. i would expect plate armor to deflect a spear though. i think spears should do higher damage but have less combat weight

if moves become more 'attuned' to the weapon then i think it'll become more rock, paper, scissors. which isn't a bad thing but will add a level of difficulty
as long as scissors can beat rock if scissors is moderately stronge

As far as 1v1 combat goes, I don't think this does anything to fix the problems (little variety and other things) with it right now and might make it worse. With group combat, it wont really change things too much. Group combat is at a decent place where numbers matter, stats matter, and skill matters IMO.

To me this is the #1 problem with combat in this game right now, if combat is supposed to be interesting there need to be many, many more moves, as well as a larger number of meaningful resources to manage (i.e., something more than IP and health).

I guess group combat can be interesting even if everyone had exactly the same 5 card deck (I'm aware that a squad of 3 with different decks can have better outcomes right now), tbh, since its more about fighting as a team, but that has never been my thing.
