I don't get this. Because it's not fleshed out it should be obscenely slow? It can take months for nearby biomes to regrow over a small plot. Why should any mechanic require months of waiting?

Well if you want accuracy for the general time period it would take you months to get all the plants soil bacteria and insects to recreate a terrain then you would have the non native environment that you would have to replant and introduce things over and over again till they finally got a foot hold. So in say a century or two you might recreate a patch of sustainable non native biome with what you have.

My point is its a nice mechanic as it is. It may be slow but people should not be easily able to create any biome quickly. If you can then you have no need to travel and explore. You just hole up in your walls with your carefully crafted soil patches and grow what you need. The current time is rather generous with how fast your getting change. If you want to think about it think of mid to late world when those patches are complete. Even if you got raided as long as you had seed to start over the native terrain allows greater speed to recover. It is a reward for putting in your time and a valuable one.

I don't care about realism or accuracy. I just want biomes to spread faster. There's a reason I'm not growing a real garden instead.

If it works like in previous worlds then you do it wrong.
Here was topic by Xcom about server grid and accelerated terraforming, but cant find it in archive :(
Curious how this works this world.

Plant more trees. Each tile will be ideal, but at least every 2nd tile and the area will be fully covered by biom.

Yeah, but then I'd have to clutter all my pathways with extra trees everywhere. Also, I'd love to have a way to spread heath biome. I love the ambient sound it plays.

Improved decay should have lessened the issue, hasn't it?
