Ya but thats all in the game of trade right? Even in the real world we decide whether or not we will accept certain coinage or currency. For instance I am pretty sure HnH only accepts USD for the game. Etc.

Towns would lose out on the bonus of extra metals if they refused anyones currency but their own. Perhaps if the percentage of metals was actually hidden. And the only way to find out if its truly a gold coin, would be to melt it down to check its contents.

Could also add a Balancing Scale object, so that we can test currencies against each other by their "weight" lol which would be defined by the different metals in it.

Read the first 3 chapters of The Pound a Biography.

Can't find the PDF at the moment but one is on the net. Read the first 3 chapters and you will see where this would be awesome for the game.

Forfeiting the advantage forcing people to trade with the currency you minted yourself so you can accept someone else's worthless currency would be a massive blunder if anyone were dumb enough to do it.

Not really. When the British Currency was debased by the minters during the 13th-17th centuries other nations and eventually China would purchase the coins. Gather them, melt them down and put them into their own currency.

Right. In the real world metal has value. In Haven and Hearth cast iron does not have value.

If you accept currencies other than your own you're going to have hyperinflation set in fast. If I sell a pearl for 100 cast iron coins, nothing stops someone else from injecting stupid amounts of their cast iron coins into my micro-economy to buy my goods. Next thing you know everyone is doing this, no one is selling anything, and trade can't be facilitated. Your coins are worth less than they were before when you had a monopoly on it.

Ya but this presents the chance for conquering places to maintain that monopoly.. I dunno its something Id like to see. Like I said it isnt changing much, just the recipe for the coins. You can still make a 100% gold or cast iron coin. Obviously there needs to be more things we can do with the gold, silver and other metals that make them more lucrative.

Metal does not respawn right?

They should make it and see what happens.

What do you mean?

Nothing I said was in. Can you mix nuggets to get different coins that are 10% 20% 30% etc of certain metals?

Im talking about mixing different metals into one coin.
