That's what computers are made for.

Also all accounts where the mail bounces with 451 or similar could be discarded to clean up a bit.

But sending 179 072 emails in a very short period of time from HnH domain might not be the beast idea, eh?

It's not unsolicited, so not really a problem.

Seriously. No effective tooltips or tutorial polish to help people not quit the game in the first 5 min, no mailing list, no advertisement, no release on Steam. I feel like the greatest weakness of the game at this point is its low population.

Solicit our favorite Polish player, Teleskop, to create tutorial content.

The game has many more weaknesses than that and is really not built well for larger player bases.

I think it could handle a larger base of players if the server can scale up past a single machine. (Not sure if loftar has thought that far ahead.) Agree with you about the weaknesses, though. There are some bigger fish to fry than any sort of in-game tutorial, which I am, more or less, in agreement with jorb and loftar on. A good manual is one thing, some of the in-game "teaching" that goes on in modern games the last decade now is just silly. It's like you're trying to teach a four year old how to play.

As far as Steam... does anyone really think Haven is ready for that kind of release? If Dwarf Fortress had hit Steam 10 years ago, it'd be split half between the rabid fan base and half between those that didn't or couldn't take the time to figure it out. And the negatives would be... horrendous.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

It definitely isn't. I have no idea what the people who are so insistent about it are thinking.
