that's the whole thing behind perma death games, pvp is supposed to cost/mean something so you don't have the as hats who go out willy nilly and just screw with anybody/everybody

what you suggest is what the battlegrounds for world of Warcraft were during burning Crusade!

is that what you want?

Im not so sure you understand what it takes to keep people playing a game. It currently wouldnt mean anything with how siege is. Tell me a benefit of raising your caps? To further yourself from new players? Or just so you can put off bitchin' a few weeks?

PvP shouldnt be about character development, as much as it should be about geopolitics and localized resources, have you been reading anything the devs have been posting? Hello?

The statcaps are already too hard to reach - people are still too afraid of losing their precious characters in battle.

We need more pvp not less

I guess it depends on the point of view. having "expendable" characters means you can do what you want and really suffer none of the consequences. is that what you want? Something easily gotten in the beginning in never treasured in the end.

I never said I know anything of this world or it's current mechanics as I only came back bout 2 weeks ago, I was replying to your statement which I quoted. And as for the Devs, a great many of people have disagreed with them and will also in the future. tis life.

But I wish for you to explain further your wish for "expendable" pvp characters. how will this help the game?

Maybe I should have put "more expendable". This game has a low retention rate. The point of a cap in the first place was so that people couldnt get to far ahead or have a character thats been months or even over a year in the making. Without a cap people will NOT leave their walls with a character worth saving, so in a sense, people will only fight with expendable characters anyways. The devs dont want people to put in a month or two into a character and have it sit behind a wall, they want to encourage social interactions and meaningful PvP that is more about this character against that character, but geopolitical warfare and siege. The higher the stat cap and longer it takes for the average player to reach it, the more likely they are going to chill behind walls and never come out, at least until theres an incentive. The cap is not only an attempt to give new players a shot at catching up, but also to push players who reach it to interact with the game differently. Get brave, stir some trouble, start some chaos!

let me take this one statement at a time.

people will only fight with expendable characters anyways.
that's the core of the problem. people in the past(macro/botting) were able to make expendable chars. they would turn on their bots and deforest entire areas. but on the flip side they had some inherent risk as they were out in the open, but since it was ftp, they made multiple accounts. then came the curio system, which lead to a massive influx of kills and whatnot because of the sheer number of expendable "foot soldiers" a developed village could produce. so the devs tried to offset with the new exp syetem, but from what I have gleamed, it really hasn't stopped the "foot soldier" syndrome.

they want to encourage social interactions and meaningful PvP that is more about this character against that character Very really have I heard about 1 v 1 pvp. most of the forums talk about multiple characters involved to a almost "gank-style" conflict.

The higher the stat cap and longer it takes for the average player to reach it, the more likely they are going to chill behind walls and never come out
the stat cap in question does not bother me, its when you speak of PVP having less and less of a sting. that's what compelled me to speak.

The cap is not only an attempt to give new players a shot at catching up, but also to push players who reach it to interact with the game differently. Get brave, stir some trouble, start some chaos
considering there has always been drama in every one of H&H's worlds I feel from previous exp the statcap was more about leveling the plaing field against the botter/macro than to motivate people to get out more.

I am not sure if it is the level cap's fault more of the fact that you can develop multiple characters.
You laugh at me because I am different. I laugh at you because you are all the same.

All the guys who's posting about cap being too low, care to elaborate on WHY would you want higher stats? What tasks, impossible with current stat cap, would a higher one let you perform?

the stat cap gives a chance for casuals to compete with the nolifers that would get thousands of attributes
i like that xD
There was a wise soviet conscript that was surrounded by the enemy on the battle of Stalingrad. A mortar shot teared his pants apart causing a big hole in his pants right on his right butt cheek. He felt a glorious cold ass breeze of wind on his butt cheek, like it would be sent by stalin himself, he said - hide your butts
