I can't argue with this. I'm of the school that wants to see fishing as it sits replaced with a system like this in its entirety, but first the system needs to be seriously revamped.
Somehow, fishing in Salem was vastly superior and I enjoyed it a great deal. When it came to Lure Fishing in Haven, I expected more of the same. I was deeply disappointed to find that the entire process seemed nonsensical. This is from someone who engaged in and enjoyed Salem fishing.
What changed? I have no idea.
First thing that needs to be fixed is where we find fish. Fish being spread all over the world that's a lot less concentrated. We can get everything everywhere and that's always been an issue.
Well, everything at a river, at a lake, etc. I'd much rather see fish require Lake/River/Biome/Weather/Time of Day/Lure/Bait. With each element coming together to determine what kind of fish you catch in the end.
Spin that up with the current fishing process and you'd be able to, with time and dedicated fishermen, quickly determine after a few reactions of your pole what kind of fish you're dealing with exactly.
It's raining? In a river by a heath? at night? Under a full moon? With a rocklobster and a tin hook? Gotta be a trout... That means it's one of these motions to get it started and 'wham' fish.
Right now the possible fish are too many, and the possible variances as well.
jorb: I don't want *your* money. You are rude and boring. Go away.
Sevenless: We already know real life has some pretty shitty game mechanics, it's why we're here instead.
Avu: The end is near it has finally come to pass: I agree with Lunarius...
Shubla: There are also other reasons to play this game than to maximize your stat gain.
