This is a very good idea. Wine, possibly beer, and other age-able foods should increase FEPs over time, and I'm surprised they don't already.

(Maybe aging would only work in cellars?)

No it isnt
Its just stupid that people can stockpile a shitton of food in their cupboards and then let it last for years.

Game is already sort of punish on when people have to play it. You must log in daily to do animal and crop and steel and such thing as this. Being able to batch make these foods in bulk is important for aid of efficiency I think. It is some thing I can do whenever I have the free time and then have foods to eat when I am more crunched for the time.

If there is some way to stop decay (e.g. icebox), I think it can be fine if lategame player can be unaffected by some decaying and that upkeep of icebox is not tedious.

they worked for it, so they should have, i wouldn't farm if i couldn't be able to store and use later and if u really want to argue irl some vegetables don't get spoiled that fast

Just thought to write a similar suggestion, but used search and find this. Though shubla could write more words for OP - it is fine as it is.

And why did I quoted jorb? I find it funny, that dev doesn't understand (or just showing it) that FOOD ALREADY SPOILS in the game. Yes, not all the food, and not entirely (leading to 0 benefits or even dangerous poisoning) but it is. What am I talking about? Let's decide what is " FOOD DECAY" for the beginning.
Food decay in H&H - it is when some food start to give less benefits after some time passed. And here comes...
Sizzling roast meat. You prepared a food, wait for some time and it gets worse. Something turns worse and the only reason - time have passed. It is the decay in its origin.
So, the first step was made long ago, devs just need to walk a little further - spread the mechanic on all food, and prolong the process to theoretic end - 0 benefit or even harm.
And to make it not "pure nerf" but "balanced idea" - the "first 30 mins" of food's life could have "buffed stage" (so they will be better then they are now), then stay normal (as they are now) for some time (like 2-3 days/week (maybe different for different types in future)), and then have "nerfed stage".
English is neither my native lang, nor my best side...

I dont think this is a good idea.

What problem decay solves? (no idea)
Why food? Why not curios or metals? (no idea)
What problems it will create? (more time for cooking, depends on decay speed)
How people may abuse it? (keep ingredients and make food when need? Decay ingredients? Decay seeds?)
Is it worth making? (definitely not)
