CRs are literally the dumbest fucking idea in the game that existed for some reason xddd

Settlement in northeast? no problem, take the subway and in literally 1 millisecond you're southwest no problem :^) crossroads amirite? xd

remove teleportation except for hearth fire and then distance will actually have some meaning with different players dominating different areas

but in that case make the map smaller

Deleting all methods of travelling alltogether does not work either, except if map is very small.
Trading is so difficult if nearest trade hub is 2-3 hours of dangerous (and boring) travelling.

Tbh you don't need to remove anything if you build roads properly. I like the current roads, you need to put initial effort to have convenience later.

Thing is, its pretty damn easy for someone to destroy either by hand or by botting all of your trail.

Claim the endpoints and make them out of stone, in case someone breaks them you'll have plenty of vandalism scents to nidbane them.

Can you make roads ignore anthills and hearthfires (of random guys who spawned in the wilderness, promptly quit and will never move their hf)? Those two objects you can't really build around. And, yes, these cases are marginal, so I hope it is easy enough to change.

Other than that current crossroads system feels prety good to me.
